Singaporeans are some of the hardest working people in the world yet after retirement, they risk losing all purpose. _ing introduces the concept of time banking to young Singaporeans, encouraging them to prepare for retirement throughout their life by taking part in engaging activities and joining lasting communities outside of work.

This project was done in Singapore, in collaboration with visual communication students from LaSalle College of the Arts and design engineering students from Nanyang Technology University. In the context of a country where the issue of ageing population is pressing, our brief was to 'design for our future selves' in the area of 'leisure and learning'.

As a launching event for _ing, we created an installation that allows people to challenge their own perception of time (subjective vs objective), to introduce them to the concept of time banking. To extend the experience beyond the installation, we designed ‘time cheques’. These cheques encourage people to earn, save and spend their time in leisure activities that can bring them purpose and motivation.

During this project I acted as a leading element, in order to coordinate all the participants’ work. I encouraged alternative approaches to the brief and building installations to interview people in the street. I also participated in refining the final concept, and directed the creation and production of the project movie.
